Nick Apoifis has been the de-facto director of Women’s Football at UNSW FC for the past 5 years. In 2023 he received the UNSW Sports Volunteer of the Year Award for his work here and elsewhere for gender equality in sports generally. He is also the Associate Dean (International) in the UNSW Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture, and a researcher in Politics and International Relations in the School of Social Sciences at UNSW. Nick was also a long-serving goalkeeper for the UNSW FC Men’s First Grade side.

Guy is currently the Acting Treasurer for Westpac Group (NZ). He is a UNSW alumni (B.Com (Economics and Finance) and M.Com (Banking and Finance)) and played for the UNSW Men’s First Grade from 1989-1999.

Matthew is the UNSW FC BYL U14s Head Coach and is currently in his 6th year of a LLB (Laws/PPE) Degree at UNSW.
Student President
Leila Hickman
Leila has stepped up from a general committee role in 2024 to the office of student president for 2025. She is in the 3rd year of a Bachelor of Exercise Science/Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology at UNSW. Leila was a member of the undefeated ESFA Women’s Div 1 side in 2024 and has joined the newly established WPL ESFA side for 2025, as well as having managed and played at 2024 UniGames.

Sally is currently in her 4th year of Bachelor of Science (Biology) degree at UNSW. Originally from Boulder, Colorado (USA), Sally has been playing for the ESFA Women’s Div 1 team since 2023.

Charlotte is a third-year LLB (Law/Arts) student at UNSW. She has been playing for UNSW FC since she began her degree in 2023 and has competed for the ESFA Women’s sides from Div 3 to Div 1.

Richie is a long-time volunteer with UNSW FC, with sporadic involvement in the club for close to 30 years. He is currently a Director at Ray White Dulwhich Hill and holds a Bachelors of Material Science and Engineering from UNSW.

Robin Chan
‘Robbie’ is a Strategy Director in the area of developing brand and customer experiences, most recently being the Head of Customer Strategy at the Iconic - Australia’s largest pure online retailer. He has been involved with UNSW FC for over 20 years as player and volunteer, spending 8 years as club president across two different tenures. Having welcomed a daughter in 2024, Robbie has now joined the board, passing on his presidential responsibilities.
Dr Phillip Wadds
Phillip Wadds is the UNSW FC MPIO and is a direct liaison between the club and the UNSW institution. He is an Associate Professor in Criminology in the Faculty of Law and Justice at UNSW, holding a PhD in Cultural Studies/Criminology from the University of Western Sydney. Joining in 2022, Dr Wadds has overseen the introduction and facilitation of internship opportunities within the club for over 20 students across exercise science, nutrition, media and law degrees.
Dr Jan Breckenridge
Jan returns to the UNSW FC Board having first joined in 2024. She holds a wealth of experience in the high-performance sport space, having played tennis, hockey and cricket before moving into management of her sons’ football teams. Jan was the secretary of Sydney City Eagles Premier League Futsal Club from 2011-2020. She is also Head of the School of Social Sciences at UNSW, a co-convenor of the UNSW Gendered Violence Research Network, and is a Research Fellow of the UNSW Australian Human Rights Institute.
Shane Cox
Shane returned to UNSW FC in 2024 following over a decade rest to join a new role in the advisory board. Previously UNSW FC President from 2008-2010, Shane was involved with the club at a committee level from 2003 until 2011. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from UNSW and is currently Head of Product and Engineering at Rux Engery, a innovative venture working in the space of emissions reduction and low-cost sustainable hydrogen.
